July Birthstone - Ruby

As the gem of passion and of the heart’s desire, Ruby has long been the symbol of love. Ancient Greek women thought that having Ruby would bring them physical beauty and love, while the gemstone was also widely used as the wedding stone throughout the Middle Ages and early Renaissance. Rubies were used to keep passion alive and help bring enduring love and happiness in marriage, which stems from the durability of the gem. Ruby is also said to represent success, integrity and promise. Roman nobles often wore ring ornamentations carved out of ruby in order to protect their wealth.

Nowadays, ruby is the gem of Cancer and the fifteenth and fortieth anniversary. Most notably, ruby is the birthstone for the month of July. Its vibrant red color makes it a popular choice and is said to bring the wearer good luck and fortune. We offer a wide range of ruby gemstones, including bracelets, rings and necklaces.
